BROOKLYN NEWS 12: Special Passover seder in Brooklyn honors abuse victims

(04/18/11) BROOKLYN– Jews around the borough marked the start of Passover at sundown today, which celebrates Jewish freedom from slavery in ancient Egypt.

That spirit of freedom took on a new meaning at one Borough Park synagogue, where a special seder dinner was being held to honor survivors of abuse.

Organizers expected some 500 abuse victims to participate at the B’nai Israel of Linden Heights. The rabbi said victims of domestic, sexual and child abuse were welcome to share their stories over the 15-step meal.

The event is sponsored by the the Voice of Justice, a Jewish social advocacy group.
