Samuel Kellner in Court Before Judge John Walsh Today June 13, 2011

Shmuel Kelner, a chassid from Boro Park had a scheduled
appearance this morning in the Kings County Criminal Court Before
the Hon. John Walsh.

His attorney approached the bench asking to be
releived from the case on the grounds of conflict of interest.
Because the attorney has not been formally retained, he could not
be releived. The judge denied te defendant Kellner the privilege of
a public defender, saying “you have posted the $25,000 bail”
assuming the he personally had the finances for that. The judge
then said that he needs to appear next time with a new lawyer. The
case was adjourned for July 28, 2011, to the same Part for a
decision based on the grand jury minutes.
